From Asian, Caribbean, French, Indian, Greek/Mideast, Italian, to Mexican cuisine, Downtown Wilkes-Barre has food options for every person's palette. It also houses several cafes, coffee shops, deli/sandwiches, and casual dining options. 

Downtown Wilkes-Barre also offers endless leisure activities. Just a short stroll takes you to the River Common which is located along the eastern bank of the Susquehanna River. The park is home to a 750 person amphitheater, paved walk-ways, gardens, ornamental trees, a grand common and seating area, a fishing pier, and two grand gateways connecting the city to the River. There are several cultural events to attend such as the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, the Luzerne County Historical Society's museum, the Sordoni Art Gallery of Wilkes University, the Widmann Art Gallery of King's College, and many private art venues and galleries. 

Downtown Wilkes-Barre is the largest concentrated employment center in Northeastern Pennsylvania and is home to a lively business and residential community. Luzerne County is located in scenic Northeastern Pennsylvania. Its three population centers, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and Pittston, make up the largest population density in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. It is both, the center of one of the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas, and the civic heart of the Wyoming Valley.

The area is easily accessible via Interstates I-80, I-81, I-84 and 476, the Northeast Extension  which interconnects with nearby I-80, I-84 and I-380. Luzerne County is just two hours to Philadelphia and New York City. 

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is located at the northern tier of the County in Avoca, PA.
