If you’re ready to get out of the house and adventure on a good hike, Hickory Run State Park is the place for you. Offering over 40 miles of hiking trails, waterfalls, swimming and the ever-so widely known National Natural Landmark, Boulder Field, there are endless hours of nature waiting. With easy access of Interstate 80, this state park makes for the perfect day trip with family and friends.

About The Park
Hickory Run State Park is comprised of 15,990 acres right outside of the Pocono Mountains in Northeaster Pennsylvania. This park offers so many outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, picnicking, wildlife watching, fishing, disc golf and more.



Hiking
There are 24 hiking trails throughout the state park. Some range from easy hiking that are great for anyone to take a leisurely stroll through nature while others are more difficult. Some trails are even fit in the winter months for cross-country skiing or snowmobiling. The trails include:  Beach Trail, Shades of Death (most difficult), Bear Trial, Blue Trail, Boulder Field, Deer Trail, Fireline (most difficult), Fourth Run, Gamewire, Gould Trail, Hawk Falls, Hickory Run, Lake Trail, Manor House, Leonardsville Nature Trail, Orchard Trail, Pine Hill, Ridge Trail, Sand Spring, Skyline, Stage Trail, Stone, and Switchback.

Boulder Field
For a rocky hike and breathtaking views, Boulder Field is it. It is a nature made, 720,000 square foot area comprised of large boulders of all sizes. The exploration of the area is unique and challenging, and is considered a National Natural Landmark.

Swimming & Fishing
At Hickory Run State Park, there are a number of lakes and waterfalls both natural and man-made. The smaller lake, Hickory Run Lake is near Boulder Field. Friendly to swimmers, Sand Spring Lake is the larger of the two. If you hike along Hawk Falls Trail, you will come across a magnificent natural waterfall which is recommended to visit during warmer months to avoid icy areas. Other waterfall attractions are Saylorsville Falls and several falls along the Shades of Death Trail on Sand Spring Run.

Events
Throughout the year park goers can participate in park events held by Park Naturalists and Environmental Educational Specialists whom are experts in the outdoors. They offer guided tours along the various trails, hands-on activities, seasonal activities for children, and so much more. See what events are happening here.
