It is about that time of year for you to start thinking about thawing out those Thanksgiving turkeys. As silly as it sounds, this is the most important step to making the perfect meal. This guide is specifically for when taking your turkey from the freezer to the refrigerator, therefore creating a “set it and forget it” type thawing process. Remember the larger the turkey, the longer it will take to thaw, so get on top of your Thanksgiving dinner with our guide to help make it a success!

It is best to keep the turkey wrapper and place it on a baking sheet or roasting pan towards the bottom of the refrigerator. This type of pan or container will reduce mess and catch any drippings during the process. You may want to check in everyday or so just to make sure if the container needs to be drained or not. According to our friends at Food Network, it takes around 24 hours for every five pounds of turkey. See our guide above for specific a specific thawing timeline.

Good luck and happy cooking!
