Have you ever wondered who handles the closing of a home? Maybe you are looking to buy or sell a home now and aren't quite sure how this part of the process works. A seasoned agent can help guide you through the process as seamlessly as possible, whether you are listing your home for sale or are buying your first house, and they'll be able to guide you through any issues that might arise. We sat down with Beth Coslett and Rebecca Halbing  to learn more about what the process entails.

Who handles the closing of a home?

A home isn't officially sold until the buyer and seller sign papers making the transaction official. These documents are also the last time that any changes can be made before the transaction is completed. When you work with a real estate agent, they will help you to work with a reputable title company and lender to obtain the services for closing your home. They'll both keep you informed on the process and take care of coordinating the closing details.

Buyers always attend the closing because of documents that need to be reviewed and signed in person. You'll also need the cashier's check for the final closing costs. Once this is finished, the buyer will have the keys to their new home!

Who provides the deed for a property?

The seller must provide the property's deed, and their realtor will assist them in that process. However, the seller doesn't need to attend the closing, but if they don't agents will need a one week lead time to ensure that the documents are properly prepared. Whether you are a buyer or a seller, Lewith & Freeman agents will ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible and that you work with a trusted title company and that all documents are accounted for so that you have the most successful closing possible.
