When you're looking to sell your home, there is no better feeling in the world than receiving your first offer. This feeling is perhaps only topped by receiving multiple offers on your home. In most circumstances, some form of negotiation is inevitable. While you want to get the best price possible for your home, the buyer is looking to get the best value.

One of the best reasons for working with an experienced Lewith & Freeman real estate agent is that they can help you through all aspects of the buying and selling process. An agent will be able to answer any questions you may have, including how to properly negotiate with a buyer who is interested in your home. As part of our Ask the Expert series, we sat down with Lewith & Freeman agents Jesse Vipond and Chelsea Sidari-Cabell to get their advice on what a seller should consider when negotiating with a buyer.

Jesse Vipond's Advice

First and foremost, Jesse stresses the importance of remembering that the offer phase of selling a home is multi-faceted. While it's tempting only to consider the offer price for your home, there are many other components that you need to think about, as well. Choosing an experienced agent will help you navigate through all considerations.

Chelsea Sidari-Cabell's Advice

When it comes to selling your home and reaching an agreement with a buyer, there are several important items you need to consider when negotiating. Here are a few of them:

  • Purchase price
  • Closing date
  • Deposit to hold the property
  • The amount the buyer is financing, as well as the load type and lender

Remember that as the seller, you can counter one or more of these items during negotiations. Your realtor will work with you to provide all the information needed to respond to every offer.
