It's time to break out the Christmas cheer and prep the home for family gatherings and Santa's visit, if you haven't already.

Perhaps you’re a new homeowner who is still gathering their seasonal decorations, or maybe you have all the decorations you need but want to mix things up a bit.

Here are some easy decoration crafts to help you deck your halls.

Cinnamon Ornaments

These are classic. At one point or another, you’ve either seen, made, or tried to eat a cinnamon ornament.

To make the no-bake kind, simply mix 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of cinnamon, and 3/4 cup of very warm water together.

Don’t add more flower to the mix if it’s sticky—just coat your hands in flower and continue to knead. Roll it out on wax paper and use cookie cutters to create your ornaments. Then, pierce holes in them for hanging later.

The dough will need to dry for at least 24 hours before it’s ready for decoration. You can leave them as is once they dry, or you can spruce them up with some paint.

This will make about 10 ornaments and is great for doing with your family and friends!

Craft Stick Snowflakes

Time to get creative! These can be as big or small as you want. Arrange the craft sticks before you glue them into a snowflake to make sure that everything lines up correctly.

Once you create your snowflakes, you can paint them white, silver, red, green, or even gold before hanging them on the walls throughout your home.

These look lovely in the living room above a couch… just in case you were looking for suggestions.

Mason Jar Wreath Ornaments

Grab your yarn, ribbon, and twine for these easy wreath ornaments. I knew there’d be something to do with the weird amount of yarn that’s left after finishing a scarf!

Tea Light Snowman Ornaments 

I just love these—I made a bunch of them last year as Christmas gifts and they were a hit!

You can get tea lights from the dollar store, or you can buy them in bulk online. With these, you want to start by drawing on the mouth and gluing on some googly eyes. Then, glue a piece of ribbon from one “ear” to the other, and cover the “ears” with little pompoms to create an earmuff look. You can create also a cardboard/felt hat and glue the to the top of the snowman's head instead (as seen in the photo).

When you hang them from the tree, be sure to light up their noses!

Pine Cone Christmas Tree Decorations

If you have children, there’s a chance that they bring in some nature debris from time to time. Send them on a hunt for pine cones to create this easy-to-make decoration.

Once they’ve gathered all the pine cones, get out the green paint! After laying down some protection for the work space, paint the pine cones green. Once that’s dry, you can paint the tips white to create a snow-dusted appearance, or you can dip them in glitter and glue whatever pompoms you have left after making your tea light snowmen ornaments.

Glue them to bottle caps or create bases with white clay, molded to resemble snow. These look great under the Christmas tree!
